Obama VP Pick should be- Ed Rendell (PA)

Sun May 11, 2008 at 12:07:52 PM PDT

Ed would be great strategic choice- here's why:

  1. Tough, gruff, blue collar guy
  1. Very engaging
  1. He can deliver- he will deliver PA- Important state
  1. This can unify party- he was obviously a BIG Hillary backer; and Hil women and Hil backers do have great admiration for guy- he really was a loyal Hil supporter all year, who delivered for her-
  1. Plus this looks like olive branch for Clinton's (without picking Hil)and for women (as stringest Hil backer) w/out picking a woman and other than Clinton (wrong for other reasons) no woman candidate for VP will help BO this year)
  1. MSM really like him- Tweety, Russert et al- that will have impact
  1. Removes him from supporting Hil in 2012 (if she tries again)
  1. He is what blue collar white guys would like- sorry but this is important factor

Theres more

He's better than other choices:

  1. Hil- NO! This is change election, she is status quo, plus baggage
  1. Gov Strickland- he helps in Ohio, but I think Rendell has better presence
  1. Richardson- I like him, he's good but,  isn't greatest, campaigner, and I don't know if two minorities on ticket is a winner for 2008
  1. Other women- Sebellius, et al- they don't seem strong VP material, this is still national security/was environment- the only credible woman for ticket on national landscape this year is Hil, and she's wrong per point 1
  1. Jim Webb (Va)- I like him alot; he would be my second best choice- but again he is not great campaigner and he doesn't even like campaigning that much there both great; I just like Ed better

Just my thoughts; not trying to be racist or sexist; but I think for US 2008 OB/Rendell would be strongest ticekt
